Christians live in a culture diametrically opposed to the way God designed them. Our faith in Christ makes us stand out from the common people; it also draws hostility from a world that gives no regard to God. It is imperative that we carefully monitor who is influencing our thought lives: God, or an external environment that is hostile to Him. Fighting back by echoing His Word concerning our identity in Him casts down all of the enemy’s lies and keeps us firmly planted in the victory Jesus won for us. This world is not our final destination; we are therefore warned against the spiritual dangers of indulging ourselves in any pleasure that is harmful to our souls.
